Q. Is Nicaragua safe?
A. This is one of the most common questions we are asked. Nicaragua has seen a tremendous amount of growth and development since the 1980’s; mainly for the better. In fact, Nicaragua is now considered one of the safest country’s in Central America along with Costa Rica and Panama.  Furthermore, crime is low at 14 crimes per 100,000. Many cities in the US rank higher than this in crime statistics.

Q. How long are the flights from the US?
A. There are some direct flights from the United States to Nicaragua which normally depart from Miami: 2 hours and 30 minutes, Atlanta: 3 hours and 40 minutes, Houston: 3 hours and 20 minutes and Dallas:3 hours 45 minutes length.

Q. Are there flights from Europe to Nicaragua?
A. No, there are no direct flights from Europe to Nicaragua so the visitor has to make some connecting flights from Europe to North America or Costa Rica.

Q. How do we get from the Airport to Nica Retreats?
A. It is quite easy to travel from the airport to Nicaretreats by car and it normally takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes.  We also offer airport transfer services to and from the airport.

Q. Do I need a Travel Visa for Nicaragua?
A. Visitors to Nicaragua must have at least 6 months of validity remaining on their passport and a return flight ticket to country of origin to enter Nicaragua.

Q. Is there an Exit Visa Tax?
A. Airport entrance tax for visitors is $10 UD and airport exit tax is $ 32 UD.
If your stay is less than 90 days, mostly likely you will have to pay an exit tax of $42 per person. Please make sure you ask your travel agent or verify this as this may change.

Q. Can I use my ATM card to get cash?
A. Yes, you can; however, you have to notify your bank branch that you will travel to Nicaragua and they will tell you which bank in Nicaragua has a partnership with them and the amount of tax they will deduct for the transaction.

Q. What are the essentials to bring over?
A. Sandals, sunblock, bathing suit, hiking shoes or sneakers, comfortable clothing, insect repellant, prescription medication, cash, a photocopy of your passport

A. Yes, there are two different companies that we promote which are located in Mombacho volcano national park and San Juan del sur area with a high quality and safety standard.

Q.Does Nica Retreats offer Fishing Excursions?
A. Yes, we do. We are well located on the pristine pacific cost of Nicaragua which help us to promote some local fisherman which own nice panga boats and yatch.

Q. What is the average temperature in Nicaragua?
A. Tropical in the lowlands, cooler in the highlands. Temperatures in Nicaragua vary from 81-90°F (27-32°C) during the rainy season from May to October, and from 86-95°F (30-35°C) during the dry season from November to April. The climate in the western region of the country between the lakes and the Pacific Ocean is dry and has little precipitation. The eastern part is hot, humid and rainy.

A. Nicaragua is blessed with climate, lakes and volcanoes we can highly recommend Mombacho, Maderas and Masaya volcano hiking nearby our place where visitors will enjoy the forest and magnificence views.

Q. Are there active volcano’s we can visit?
A. Yes, there are 7 actives volcanoes in Nicaragua and we are well located to 3 of them where we offer some hiking tours.

Q. What is the minimum stay at a Nica Retreats vacation villa?
A. We encourage you to stay as long as possible at one of our 7 unique vacation villas. The minimum stay is 2 days and we suggest booking in advance as availability can change quickly.
